Map Resources Licensing

PresentationMaps.com Licensing

This information only pertains to digital map products created and sold by PresentationMaps.com and not to any product created by an affiliate company and sold on PresentationMaps.com. Product codes begin with the characters pm in our digital map store.

(1) PresentationMaps.com grants an automatic general usage license to the purchaser of any digital map product. This license allows for the following use of the digital map product:

Promotional/Presentation Materials - allows unrestricted, royalty- free use in any print or multimedia presentation, such as brochures, ads, posters, books, or business presentations. Atlases or books comprised of more than 25% of data or maps from PresentationMaps.com are excluded and require special licenses.

Web Display - allows unrestricted, royalty-free use on Web sites for display only.

Custom Maps/Resale - allows for unrestricted, royalty-free use in any custom mapping project where custom mapping services are sold, but excluding any service performed for the creation of products intended for use in general sale to public, such as an atlas or road map.

NO PRODUCT OR MAP MAY BE RESOLD, EXCEPT IN THE CONDITIONS ABOVE, IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM UNLESS EXPLICIT PERMISSION, IN WRITING, IS GRANTED FROM PRESENTATIONMAPS.COM.

(2) Each product license is restricted for use by the purchasing organization only and may not be copied or passed to anyone for use outside the purchasing organization.

(3) This license declares that PresentationMaps.com makes no representations about the suitability of these data for any purpose. The data are provided "as is" without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and suitability for a particular purpose.

(4) With the issuance of this license, the purchaser relieves PresentationMaps.com and its respective officers, agents, and employees of any liability for any and all damages resulting from use or misuse of any digital map product purchased from PresentationMaps.com.

Map Resources License Options Summary

This section pertains to digital map products created by Map Resources and resold by PresentationMaps.com. Product codes begin with the characters mr in our digital map store. Contact Map Resources for licensing information concerns.

Basic License

This is a broad usage license that automatically comes with the purchase of any Map Resources map image. It is a royalty-free license, designed to meet the general needs of graphics and publishing professionals. The only usage limits pertain to the number of individuals accessing the maps, the use of the maps in products such as atlases, and in reselling or distributing maps as clip art or graphic images in electronic format. The Basic License specifically allows the following:

Access - work groups of 10 or fewer specific individuals may share the Map Resources map files.

Promotional Materials - allows unrestricted use in any promotional print or multimedia product, or product packaging, such as brochures, ads, posters, book covers, CD cases.

Resale Products - allows for use in any print or multimedia products produced for resale, unless more than 100,000 copies are going to be produced, and the maps comprise more than 25% of the total content of the product.

Web - allows for use on web sites, as long as the map comprises less than 25% of the total content of the web site.

The Basic License does not allow the following:

You may not distribute map files to those outside your workgroup, except your client, service bureaus, printers, or other production services. You need to purchase a site license to extend your license beyond 10 persons.

Resale of electronic map files - You need to purchase an Extended Commercial License to resell any Map Resources maps.

Broadcast License

This is a convenient, inexpensive buy out license that is available for broadcast purposes. It is designed to meet the varied needs of TV stations, video development companies, and individual filmmakers, with no royalty or per use requirements ever.

With the Broadcast License, your options are very flexible:

Single Image or Multi-Image license - if you only need one map, you can license a single image. If your project calls for numerous maps, you can license a collection.

Single Project or Unlimited Use license - if you have only one project that requires maps, or if you want to bill the Map Resources license to a single client, you can get a license for a single project. However, if you or your organization needs maps on an ongoing basis, or is likely to need them for future projects, you can get an unlimited license that allows you to use the maps in any project you desire, as many times as you wish, any time in the future, with no need to come back and renew with Map Resources.

No matter which option you choose, the Broadcast License allows other entities to broadcast the images, so long as they do so in the format you supplied them. This means you don't have to worry about not being allowed to distribute your work to TV stations or other broadcasters. The license doesn't put any limit on the distribution or the number of times the broadcast is repeated.

Site License

Map Resources Site Licenses are designed for work groups comprising more than 10 specific individuals and are therefore NOT covered under the Basic License. For example, an educational institution, a publishing group, or a business that loads Map Resources maps onto a server that is accessed by more than 10 specific individuals.

Extended Commercial License

These are custom licenses designed for situations in which the Basic License or the Broadcast License is not sufficient. For example, atlas projects (either books or CD-Rom), in which the maps obviously comprise more than 25% of the product content, need a special license. Also, any situation where maps are being distributed specifically for the use by the customer as clip art images needs a special license.
